Volleyball Sweeps New Jersey City, 3-0, for Sixth Straight NJAC Win

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Rowan volleyball team defeated New Jersey City in straight sets, 3-0, on Tuesday evening to win its sixth consecutive conference match. The Profs earned the win by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20 to even their record to 14-14 and improve to 6-1 in the NJAC.
 
Natalie Ogden led the way for the Profs with 13 kills and 15 digs while Cassidy Abdalla chipped in 12 kills. Tori Mock handed out 38 assists for Rowan with Simone Sparano picking up 17 digs and posting three service aces.
 
Rowan opened the match jumping out to a 10-2 lead and although New Jersey City (6-15; 0-7) closed to within 16-14, the Profs scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 24-17 lead and eventually the set.
 
The teams were tied numerous times in the second set, and at 16-16, Rowan scored four straight to take a 20-16 edge. The Profs then posted five straight to earn the win in that set.
 
The third set was also close until Rowan went on a 5-0 run to take a 19-11 lead en route to closing out the match, 25-20.
 
Rowan will host a tri-match on Saturday, October 26 at Esby Gym. The Profs will take on Wheaton College (MA) at 10 a.m. and then King's College at 2 p.m. Wheaton will take on King's in the second match at noon.
