SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Rowan University volleyball team dropped its first two matches at the Trinity University (TX) Tournament, falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor and UC Santa Cruz. The Profs are now 11-10 on the year.
Rowan lost a competitive four-set match to UC Santa Cruz (10-10). The Profs fell behind in the first two sets, 24-26 and 18-25, but then fought back for a 25-20 win in the third. UC Santa Cruz closed it out with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
Natalie Ogden had 12 kills and
Cassidy Abdalla had 11 for the Profs while
Lauren Horbacewicz and
Kailey Gallagher had 10 apiece. Horbacewicz also had a team-high four blocks while
Tori Mock handed out 42 assists.
The Profs lost their opening match in three sets to Mary Hardin-Baylor (15-4) by 25-17, 25-20 and 25-9. Gallagher had 11 kills with only two errors while Mock had 24 assists.
Simone Sparano posted 21 digs and
Jackie Camponelli served up two aces for the Profs.
Rowan concludes play in the tournament on Saturday against Ohio Northern at 11 a.m. (Eastern) and versus the host team Trinity at 6 p.m.
