About the Profs
Rowan (0-4; 0-1 NJAC) lost its second straight game to a ranked team with a 21-20 defeat at #11 Wesley. Rowan returns home to Wackar Stadium where it owns a 15-11 record over the past six seasons (counting this one).
About Kean
Kean (2-2; 1-0) opened NJAC play with a 30-6 win over Christopher Newport last Saturday as the Cougars scored 21 first-quarter points to pick up their second win in a row. QB Anthony Broccoletti was 15-of-26 for 242 yards and two touchdowns while Kean racked up 404 yards of offense.
The Series (Rowan leads 37-9)
Rowan and Kean have met 46 times, which is fourth longest running series for the Profs. The teams have traded two-game winning streaks in recent years, with Rowan having posted two wins in a row. Last year's game was also played at home and the Profs came away with a 35-20 victory.
Last Time vs. Kean
Rowan scored a 35-20 win over Kean on "Senior Night" last season at Wackar Stadium. The Profs jumped out to a 14-0 lead, which included a score on their first possession, and ultimately led 21-10 at halftime. Kean cut the deficit to 21-17 but Rowan's
Elijah Rehm returned an 81-yard punt to give the Profs a 28-17 advantage in the third quarter. With Rowan up 28-20, the Profs sealed the win after an interception led to a three-yard touchdown reception by TE
Cody Madden. Â
Last Time Out
Rowan scored two touchdowns in a span of 35 seconds in the fourth quarter, but the Profs fell short in their upset bid of #12 Wesley, 21-20, at Miller Stadium in the NJAC opener for both teams. Trailing 21-7,
Nick Grosso hauled in a 26-yard pass from
Mike Husni for a touchdown at 8:11. On Wesley's possession at their own four yard line,
Luke Genise broke through the line and grabbed the ball, taking it into the end zone for the touchdown at 7:26. Rowan's extra-point attempt by
Jake Hurler, however, was off the mark. Wesley opened the scoring in the game on a 10-yard pass from Mullin, but the Profs tied it in the second quarter on a 30-yard run by
Messiah Divine at 9:46. Rowan had a chance in the final seconds of the half on third-and-goal but Wesley's defense stopped Grosso after a 5-yard completion.
Â
Divine finished the day with a season-high 118 yards on 26 carries. Husni connected on 15-of-24 passing for 114 yards and one TD, while Grosso caught nine passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
