GLASSBORO, NJ –
Megan Jacobi had a match-high 18 kills to lead the Rowan University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Montclair State in NJAC action at Esby Gym. The Profs improved to 10-9 (3-1 NJAC) while snapping Montclair State's (12-4; 2-2) seven-match winning streak.
Rowan took the first two sets of the tight match, winning 25-23 and 25-22. Montclair State took the third by a 25-20 score before the Profs were able to hang on in the fourth and close out the victory, 25-22.
Natalie Ogden had 14 kills and 26 digs while
Cassidy Abdalla had 11 kills without an error for a team-best .579 hitting percentage.
Tori Mock dished out a career-high 48 assists and
Simone Sparano had 20 digs for the Profs.
"It was close tonight but so fun to see them battle and play together and for each other. I feel like they played from here (heart) and it was evident because they were very much on the same page," said head coach
Deana Jespersen. "We knew Montclair State wasn't going to go away but we were able to believe in each other and not get rattled."
The Profs get a week's break before their next match, returning to action on October 8 at Kean University for a conference matchup.
