GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming & diving team defeated the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 183-57 on Saturday.
It was the Profs' final dual meet of the season and the women finished with an overall record of 9-2. Seniors
Amanda Burke (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.),
Cayleigh McCusker (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) and
Polina Dineva (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) were honored before the meet.
Rowan took first in the 400 medley relay (4:09.90) and 200 freestyle relay (1:43.66). The medley relay included
Daria Mnich (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson),
Megan Miller (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.),
Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and
Antonia Simunek (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway).
Bianca Karpinski (so. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown),
Miranda Coughlan (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Miller and Dineva were on the free relay.
Coughlan came in first in the 200 freestyle (2:02.22) and 100 backstroke (1:01.64).
Emily LaBenski (so. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) swam a winning time of 11:17.56 in the 1000 freestyle. She also had a second place (1:02.63) in the 100 butterfly.
Rowan took first through third in the 50 free.
Abigail Brous (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) was the winner (25.67) while Miller and Dineva were second (26.23) and third (26.24) respectively. Dineva finished first (57.02) in the 100 freestyle.
Emily Kopchick (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) captured first place (1:09.18) in the 100 breaststroke and McCusker was second (1:14.17).
Bailey Howarth (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) claimed first place (2:18.54) in the 200 individual medley. She also won (5:26.60) the 500 freestyle. Mnich touched first (1:01.53) in the 100 butterfly.
Klaudia Rzotkiewicz (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) won the one-meter diving with 228.25 points and she was second (238.20) in the three-meter.
Corinne Finkbinder (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) took second (222.40) on the one-meter board and third (237.40) on the three-meter.
Kelly McQueston (fr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) finished fourth in the one-meter (182.65) and three-meter (203.85) diving.
Claire McKissick (so. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finished second (2:04.89) in the 200 freestyle and Gligor followed third (2:07.89). Karpinski took second (2:18.66) in the 200 individual medley and Kopchick was third (2:23.22).
In the 100 backstroke, Burke and Karpinski were second (1:02.07) and third (1:02.41) respectively. Kopchick came in third (59.83) in the 100 freestyle. Simunek had a second place (5:30.24) in the 500 freestyle and she was third (1:09.32) in the 100 butterfly.
