Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ – Guard Nick DePersia scored the winning basket in Rowan University's 67-66 win at New Jersey City University on Saturday.
 
DePersia (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) made a layup at the seven second mark for a one-point advantage.  The Gothic Knights' last attempt with one tick left on the clock was blocked by forward Ramon Wright (jr. East Orange, NJ/Irvington). 
 
The Profs improve to 11-11 overall and 7-8 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  NJCU is 17-5 overall and 11-4 in the conference.
 
DePersia ended the game with 11 points and four rebounds.  Forward TJ Booth (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) contributed with 17 points, seven boards and three steals.  Wright totaled 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. 
 
For New Jersey City, forward Sam Toney (so. Plainfield, NJ/Williamstown) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds.  Guard Lavrone Green (jr. Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) scored 14 points.  Guard Shaquan Worthy (jr. Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) dished eight assists and had five steals. 
 
The Gothic Knights started the second half with a two-point lead (33-31).  Rowan built a nine-point advantage (44-35) at 16:11 after a 13-2 run.  Booth contributed with six points, Wright followed with five and guard DaRon Curry (jr. Deptford, NJ/Phelps School (PA)) chipped in with two.  Worthy's three-pointer at 13:36 cut the deficit to two (46-44).  Rowan led by six (55-49) after forward Austin Kearney's (so. Monroeville, NJ/Gloucester County Christian) basket with 11:39 remaining.
 
The Profs were ahead 57-53 at 9:35.  Guard Robert Gordon (jr. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) hit a three (9:13) and Green put the Gothic Knights up by one (58-57) with a layup at 8:57.  Rowan answered with six straight points to lead 63-58 with 6:38 on the clock.  Curry nailed a jumper (8:29) and Booth scored a three-pointer (7:16) and a foul shot (6:38). 
 
Toney made a basket (4:55) and the score was 63-60.  DePersia's layup put Rowan ahead by five (65-60) with 4:03 left.  Toney pulled NJCU within two (65-63) after a three pointer (2:57).  He sank another three (0:23) before DePersia's game-winning basket. 
 
There were seven lead changes and the score was tied four times in the first half.  With 56 seconds left, guard Rob DePersia (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) had a layup and Rowan led 31-28.  Forward James Julius' (jr. Linden, NJ/Linden) three-pointer tied the score (0:41) and Worthy's basket (0:03) put NJCU ahead at the break (33-31).
 
Next week, Rowan hosts Kean University on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m.
