Rowan Women' Basketball Rolls Past Stockton, 85-60

GALLOWAY, NJ – The Rowan University women's basketball team rolled past conference foe Stockton University, 85-60 on Wednesday
 
The Profs are now 4-4 overall with a 3-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference mark. The Ospreys fall to 1-7 and 0-4 in the conference. 
 
Center Ayanna Johnson (fr. Ewing, NJ/The Pennington School) led the way with a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Olivia Rulon (sr. Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) produced 14 points, while guard Grace Marshall (fr. Bellmawr, NJ/Haddon Twp.) added 11 points and five rebounds. Guards Alexis Kriley (so. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Kennedy Brown (fr. Newark, DE/The Tatnall School) chipped in 10 points apiece. 
 
For Stockton, center Mckenna Forry (jr. Waterford, NJ/Hammonton) scored 16 points and grabbed four boards. Guard Natalie Miller (so. New Milford, NJ/New Milford) recorded 11 points, followed by Madison Noordeloos (so. Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) with 10. Forward April Peterson (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) had eight points and collected 12 rebounds.
 
It was a back and forth battle in the opening quarter, as the score remained close for the first 10 minutes of action. Rowan took its largest lead (14-8) after it tallied six straight points (4:17). Kriley sunk a jumper, Johnson converted a free throw and Marshall drained a three during the streak. The Ospreys fought back to tie the contest at 16 (1:47). Miller hit a pair of threes, while forward Raquel Harris-Scott (jr. Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) notched a layup. Rulon buried a jumper (0:10) near the end of the quarter to give the Profs an 18-16 advantage heading into the next frame.
 
The Brown and Gold's offense started hot in the second outscoring Stockton, 11-4. Rowan put the first five points on the board when Marshall nailed a jumper (9:23) and Rulon made a three (8:23). Each side traded baskets before Forry converted a jump shot to trail by five (25-20). Johnson ended the run scoring on back-to-back shots to give the Profs a 29-20 advantage (6:45). Stockton fought back and cut the deficit to five (36-31) (2:12). Rowan added four points compared to the Ospreys' two to stay on top, 40-33 going into halftime. 
 
The Profs continued to dominate in the third. Rowan built a 14 point lead (53-39) after Rulon and Kriley each sunk a jumper (6:17). The Ospreys battled back as they scored four straight baskets to trail, 53-47 (3:33). Noordeloos and Forry each tallied two baskets during the eight point run. The Brown and Gold responded with its own eight point swing to pull away, 62-49. Guard Nicole Byrne (sr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) converted a three-pointer and two free throws and Brown hit one from beyond the arc (1:44). 
 
The Brown and Gold put the game out of reach in the final stanza after it outscored Stockton, 22-10 to win, 85-60.
 
Rowan will host Ramapo College on Saturday, Dec. 8, with the contest set to start at 3 p.m.
