Men's Basketball Wins 76-66 At William Paterson

WAYNE, NJ – The Rowan University men's basketball team won 76-66 at William Paterson University on Wednesday night.  
 
Guard Connor Dickerson (fr. Marlton, NJ/Moorestown) scored 17 points while guard Rob DePersia (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and guard/forward Ramon Wright (sr. Newark, NJ/Irvington) followed with 14 points apiece. DePersia also totaled seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.  Forward Teirique Robinson (sr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.  Guard Nick DePersia (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) chipped in with nine points.  
 
For William Paterson, forward Malcolm McLeod (so. Teaneck, NJ/Eastern Christian) had a game-high 19 points and six rebounds.  Forward Hershel Williams (jr. Philadelphia, PA/Timber Creek Reg. (NJ)) collected 10 points and six boards.  Forward Sean Smith (jr. Moraga, CA/Campolindo) added seven points and six rebounds. Guard Justin Lingat (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) pulled down nine boards.  
 
The Profs improve to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Pioneers have a 7-4 record with a 4-2 conference mark. 
 
Rowan started the game with a 17-4 run in just under six minutes.  Wright contributed with six points while Dickerson and Robinson each had four and Rob DePersia hit a three.  Rob DePersia's jumper at 9:20 kept the Profs ahead by eight (24-16).    
 
Forward Myles McLeod (jr. Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) made two foul shots (5:41) and guard Domenic Mignone (so. Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford). followed with a layup (5:07).  The Pioneers then trailed by two points (24-22). The Profs had an 8-1 run to lead 34-25 with 1:08 left.  Four different players produced two points apiece in the spurt.  William Paterson scored two straight baskets and Dickerson hit a free throw to end the period with Rowan ahead 35-29.    
 
In the second half, Dickerson's layup (17:43) made the score 46-29 and gave Rowan its biggest lead of the game, 17 points.  William Paterson answered with seven straight points to cut the deficit to 10.  Williams' nailed a three (14:34) and the Pioneers were down by seven (48-41).  They pulled within three points (53-50) after a three by Malcomb McLeod.  The Profs answered with six points, which made the score 59-50 at 9:33.  Dickerson sank two baskets and Robinson had one.  
 
With 5:02 on the clock, Dickerson's layup put Rowan up by 14 points (69-55).  The closest William Paterson came for the remainder of the game (1:31) was six points (72-66) after a foul shot by Lingat.  Rob DePersia had two points at the line (1:27) and Wright scored with a layup (0:11) to end the game.
 
Next, Rowan hosts Eastern University on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
