NJCU Men's Basketball Wins 76-68 Over Rowan

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The New Jersey City University men's basketball team won 76-68 over Rowan University on Saturday.
 
Guard Lavrone Green (sr. Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) led NJCU with 20 points and guard James Richardson (sr. Jersey City, NJ/Snyder) contributed with 12. Center Chika Wosu (so. Jersey City, NJ/University Academy Charter) and guard Denzel Banks (so. Newark, NJ/East Orange Campus) each totaled 11 points and guard Shaquan Worthy (sr. Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) followed with 10.  Worthy also dished four assists.  Forward Sam Toney (jr. Plainfield, NJ/Williamstown) grabbed eight rebounds and Banks had five steals.
 
The Gothic Knights are 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Profs have a 4-2 record with a 1-2 conference mark.
 
For Rowan, guard Nick DePersia (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) produced 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists.  Guard Connor Dickerson (fr. Marlton, NJ/Moorestown) scored 14 points and had five boards.  Guard/forward Ramon Wright (sr. Newark, NJ/Irvington) compiled 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.  Forward Teirique Robinson (sr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) added nine points and six boards.  
 
New Jersey City started the second half with a 23-point lead (45-22). Rowan trailed by 21 (55-34) with 14:15 left.  The Profs pulled within 11 (57-46) after a 12-2 run.  Dickerson scored seven of the 12 points.  Green's three-pointer at 7:54 made the score
66-46.  
 
Rowan cut the deficit to five points (68-63) with a 17-2 surge that ended at 3:46.  Five different players contributed in the rally and DePersia led the way with six points. DePersia recorded 15 points in the final stanza.  Banks' layup gave NJCU an eight-point lead (72-64) with 1:53 on the clock.  Wright hit a jumper (1:38), Robinson made a foul shot (1:18) and Dickerson had one free throw (0:58) to trail 72-68.  Richardson sealed the victory with four straight points at the line.  He sank two foul shots at 0:22 and 0:15.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
 
Rowan is on the road again at Stockton University on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.
