MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming & diving team defeated Montclair State University, 192-108 on Saturday.
The Profs are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The women won the 200 medley (1:50.76) and 400 freestyle (3:45.70) relays.
Abigail Brous (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford),
Emily Kopchick (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Daria Mnich (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and
Miranda Coughlan (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) were on the medley relay.
Elizabeth O'Brien (so. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.),
Kylie Salerno (fr. Castleton, NY/Maple Hill),
Antonia Simunek (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and Coughlan made up the free relay.
Coughlan had first places in the 50 (24.47) and 100 (54.10) freestyles. Brous swam a winning time of 1:01.51 in the 100 backstroke. She also was third (2:17.24) in the 200 backstroke.
Carlee Timmins (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won the 1000 (10:52.80) and 500 (5:18.35) freestyles.
Jordan Jones (fr. Somerset, NJ/Homeschooled) took first (2:19.04) in the 200 butterfly. She also had a third place (5:35.96) in the 500 free.
Gabby Gligor (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) came in first (1:01.66) in the 100 butterfly.
Natalie Smith (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) came in second (2:19.72) in the 200 butterfly and Gligor was third (2: 23.73).
Alex Bambrick (jr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) touched first (2:13.66) in the 200 backstroke. Rowan finished second through fourth in the 200 freestyle. Bambrick took second place (2:01.82) while Salerno and
Annalise Giuliano (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) were third (2:07.21) and fourth (2:07.60) respectively. In the 200 individual medley, Bambrick and Howarth were third (2:21.73) and fourth (2:22.20) respectively.
Veronica Alferez (so. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.) took second in the 1000 freestyle (11:11.23) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.33).
Bailey Howarth (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) finished second (1:10.77) in the 100 breaststroke followed by Kopchick, third (1:10.83) and
Megan Miller (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), fourth (1:11.23). In the 200 breaststroke, Howarth and Kopchick were second (2:31.82) and third (2:38.35) respectively.
In the one-meter diving,
Corinne Finkbinder (jr. Moorestown, N/Moorestown) and
Klaudia Rzotkiewicz (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) were second (174.60) and third (168.60) with five voluntary dives. Finkbinder had a second place (236.02) in the one-meter six optional dives and Rzotkiewicz was third (189.98).
O'Brien came in second (2:14.62) in the 200 backstroke and third (1:02.76) in the 100 backstroke. Simunek finished third in the 50 (26.12) and 100 (57.66) free. Mnich took third (1:02.39) in the 100 butterfly and fourth (1:05.25) in the 100 backstroke.
Next week, Rowan travels to conference opponent Kean University on Thursday, November 8 for a 4 p.m. meet.
