GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swim team won 149-56 over Arcadia University on Thursday night.
Rowan took first place in the 200 medley (1:52.62) and 200 freestyle (1:40.81) relays. The medley relay included
Abigail Brous (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford),
Emily Kopchick (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Veronica Alferez (so. Elmwood Park, N/Elmwood Park Mem.) and
Antonia Simunek (so. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway).
Miranda Coughlan (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Elizabeth O'Brien (so. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Brous and Simunek were on the free relay.
The Profs are 1-1 overall and the Knights have a 2-1 record. Coughlan was the winner in the 100 (54.25) and 200 (1:59.63) freestyles. Brous touched first (25.53) in the 50 free and Kopchick won (2:35.94) the 200 breaststroke.
Alferez swam a winning time of 4:51.24 in the 400 individual medley. She also claimed first (2:17.14) in the 200 backstroke.
Carlee Timmins (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) won (5:19.93) the 500 freestyle and she came in second (2:01.30) in the 200 free.
Bailey Howarth (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) had a second place (4:52.86) in the 400 individual medley. She also came in third (5:32.84) in the 500 freestyle. O'Brien took second (55.80) in the 100 free.
Daria Mnich (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) finished second (2:26.09) in the 200 backstroke. Rowan took second through fourth in the 1000 freestyle.
Alex Bambrick (jr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) finished second (11:14.22) followed by
Natalie Smith (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), third (11:18.11) and
Jordan Jones (fr. Somerset, NJ/Homeschooled), fourth (11:22.83). Bambrick also had a third place (4:52.97) in the 400 individual medley. Jones was the winner (2:18.15) in the 200 butterfly.
In the 50 free,
Megan Miller (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and
Gabby Gligor (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) were third (26.02) and fourth (26.38) respectively. Miller also had a third place (2:44.07) in the 200 breaststroke.
Kylie Salerno (fr. Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) finished third (2:25.20) in the 200 butterfly and Gligor followed fourth (2:26.30).
Next week, Rowan starts its conference schedule at Montclair State University on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
