NEW YORK, NY – The New York University women's swimming and diving team won 181-111 over Rowan University on Saturday.
The Violets have a 1-1 record. It was the first meet of the season for the Profs.
Miranda Coughlan (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was the winner in the 50 free with a time of 24.49. She also had a second place (53.53) in the 100 freestyle.
Alex Bambrick (jr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) took second place (1:00.76) in the 100 backstroke and she was third (2:12.73) in the 200 back.
Emily LaBenski (jr. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) swam 2:30.76 in the 200 breaststroke for second place. She was fourth (2:02.43) in the 200 freestyle. The 200 medley relay came in second with a time of 1:51.23.
Emily Kopchick (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) finished second (1:10.76) in the 100 breaststroke while
Bailey Howarth (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and
Megan Miller (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) were fourth (1:11.06) and fifth (1:11.22) respectively. Kopchick also had a third place (2:34.26) in the 200 breaststroke.
Rowan came in third through fifth in the 200 butterfly.
Natalie Smith (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) was third (2:17.30) followed by
Jordan Jones (fr. Somerset, NJ/Homeschooled), fourth (2:19.45) and
Veronica Alferez (so. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Mem.), fifth (2:20.07).
Carlee Timmins (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) finished fourth (10:49.48) in the 1000 freestyle and she was fifth (5:22.32) in the 500.
Next week, Rowan hosts Arcadia University on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
