GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming & diving team won its fourth conference meet with a 201.5-98.5 victory over Montclair State University on Saturday.
The Profs are 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Red Hawks have a 6-2 record with a 2-1 conference mark.
The 200 medley relay of
Alex Bambrick (so. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell),
Megan Miller (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.),
Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and
Miranda Coughlan (jr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) swam a winning time of 1:50.65. The 400 freestyle relay tied for first place in 3:43.05. The relay included Bambrick, Coughlan,
Bianca Karpinski (so. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) and
Emily LaBenski (so. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.).
Carlee Timmins (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) was the winner in the 500 (5:18.57) and 1000 (10:44.94) freestyles. Coughlan swam 24.71 in the 50 free for first place. She also came in first (54.34) in the 100 freestyle.
Emily Kopchick (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) touched first in the 100 (1:08.04) and 200 (2:30.55) breaststrokes. Bambrick claimed first in the 200 freestyle (2:00.59) and 200 backstroke (2:10.83).
Elizabeth O'Brien (fr. Flemington, NJ/HunterdonCentral Reg.) took first (2:17.19) in the 200 individual medley and she was second in the 100 (1:01.64) and 200 (2:12.81) backstrokes.
Gabby Gligor (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was the winner in the 200 butterfly (2:17.10) and she was second (1:01.11) in the 100 butterfly.
In the 1000 freestyle, LaBenski finished second (11:14.49) followed by
Claire McKissick (so. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding), third (11:31.92). McKissick also took third (5:32.75) in the 500 freestyle. Miller came in second (1:09.56) in the 100 breaststroke and
Bailey Howarth (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was third (1:10.84). Howarth took second (2:31.55) in the 200 breaststroke and LaBenski was third (2:32.73). In addition, Howarth had a third place (2:20.50) in the 200 individual medley.
Klaudia Rzotkiewicz (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) came in second in the one-meter diving (11 dives) with 384.75 points.
Corinne Finkbinder (so Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and
Kelly McQueston (fr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) were third (370.55) and fourth (335.20) respectively. In the one-meter (six dives), Rzotkiewicz was second (228.70) while Finkbinder and McQueston were third (215.85) and fourth (185.60) respectively.
Antonia Simunek (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) finished second in the 50 (25.86) and 200 (2:00.93) freestyles.
Veronica Alferez (fr. Elmwood Park, NJ/Elmwood Park Reg.) had a second place (2:19.36) in the 200 butterfly. Karpinski took second (5:30.19) in the 500 freestyle.
Abigail Brous (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) finished third (1:02.99) in the 100 backstroke.
For Montclair State, Erin Cannon (sr. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) was the winner (1:01.17) in the 100 backstroke and she was third (2:14.19) in the 200 backstroke. Margaux Winchock (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.11. Grace Nielson (so. Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills Reg.) totaled 421.25 points in the one-meter diving (11 dives) for first place. She qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
Next week, Rowan travels to Swarthmore College on Saturday, Jan. 20 for a 1 p.m. meet that also includes Stevens Institute of Technology.
