Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The 20
th-ranked Rowan University men's soccer team shut out Stockton University, 3-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest on Wednesday night.
It was the Profs' fourth straight victory and their eighth win in their last nine games. Rowan improves to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The Ospreys are 8-1-1 with a 2-1 NJAC mark.
Forward
Matt Hendrickson (so. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) opened the scoring at 6:30. He found a loose ball that bounced through the box and shot into the left side of the goal. Forward
Shane Doherty (jr. Delran, NJ/Delran) made an impact on the scoresheet for the seventh consecutive match when he hit the back of the net at 34:46. He received a pass from midfielder
Tyler Logar (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) then streaked down the right side of the box before firing into the left side.
In the second half, midfielder
Jake Connors (sr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) lined up for a free kick from 25 yards out. He sent the ball into the box and back
Will Sjaastad (jr. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) headed it into the cage at 63:13.
Goalkeeper
Erik Checkur (jr. Wantage, NJ/High Point Reg.) made one save for his third shutout. Stockton goalie Kellen Groover (sr. Florence, NJ/Life Center Academy) stopped six shots. The Profs outshot the Ospreys, 16-5 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The men's soccer team heads to Kean University for a conference game on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
