Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, FL – The Rowan University baseball team split a doubleheader with the College of St. Scholastica on Friday.
The Profs had a come-from-behind 7-4 win in the first game while the Saints took game two, 6-3. Rowan has a 10-4 record while St. Scholastica is 4-5 overall.
First baseman
Joe Sadler (jr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel), outfielder
Monny Strickland (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and left fielder/shortstop
Jason Clapper (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each recorded three hits on the day. Sadler and Strickland both hit a double and Sadler drove in four runs. Right fielder

Matt Jolly (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored three runs apiece. Clapper touched the plate twice. Designated hitter

Matt Edwards (so. Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan), Clapper and Jolly each had one RBI.
Saints' left fielder Tim Munn (so. Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) went three-for-six and scored one run. Right fielder Steven Neutzling (jr. St. Cloud, MN/St. Cloud Cathedral) hit a home run and had three RBIs. Center fielder Drew Colvard (jr. Little Canada, MN/Roseville) and second baseman Joey Zwak (fr. Duluth, MN/Duluth E.) each registered a double. Shortstop Tyler Duex (sr. Bloomer, WI/Chippewa Falls) touched the plate three times while designated hitter Trevor Bernsdorf (sr. Elmer, MN/Floodwood) knocked in two runs and scored twice.
In the opener, lefty
Drew Ryback (fr. Mantua, NJ/Clearview Reg.) picked up his first collegiate win in relief. He (1-0) went 5.1 innings and surrendered just two hits while punching out nine. Right-hander Dan Hansen (fr. Brooklyn Center, MN/Park Center) took the loss (1-1).
St. Scholastica tallied the first four runs of the game in the first inning. Zwak came home on an error, Neutzling sent a two-run homer to right and Bernsdorf scored on a fielder's choice. The Profs began their comeback in the second when Edwards walked with the bases loaded. In the third, Sadler doubled to right center and Jolly came around to score.
Rowan took the lead with three runs in the fourth. Jolly drove in center fielder
Shane Brown (sr. Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) with a base hit. Sadler's two-run single put the Profs in front. Rowan added two insurance runs in the sixth. Sadler had a base hit and Golla scored. Jolly touched home on an error.
In game two, left-handed pitcher Jacob Dzubay (sr. St. Michael, MN/St. Michael-Albertville) hurled six frames for the victory. He (1-1) allowed two runs and six hits. Righty
Brad Machinski (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) suffered the loss (2-1).
The Saints put up two runs in the first. Zwak came home on Neutzling's groundout and Duex scored on an error. The score was 4-0 after the third. Third baseman Brian Minks (sr. St. Cloud, MN/St. Cloud Cathedral) drove in Duex with a base hit and later scored on a fielder's choice. Zwak's groundout in the sixth plated Munn and St. Scholastica had a 5-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the sixth, Rose singled in Clapper and Strickland touched the plate on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to three (5-2). Bernsdorf came home on an error in the top of the seventh. Clapper's single in the bottom half brought home Golla for the final run.
Rowan concludes its Florida trip against St. Norbert College on Saturday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m.
