Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL – The Rowan University baseball team defeated Salve Regina University, 6-2 at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Wednesday.
The Profs (8-3) received a solid outing from their pitching staff as both of the Seahawks' (5-2) runs were unearned. Right-hander
Andrew Cohen (sr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) was the winning hurler. He (1-1) went six innings and surrendered seven hits while striking out four. Righty Cory Poplawski (sr. Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) took the loss (0-2). He allowed five unearned runs on four hits.

Matt Jolly (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each had two hits for Rowan. Jolly recorded a double. First baseman

Frank Rose (fr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) and third baseman
Dillon Mendel (so. Sparta, NJ/Sparta) knocked in one run apiece. Right fielder
Kyle Golla (sr. Palm Coast, FL/Allentown (NJ)), left fielder/first baseman
Monny Strickland (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.), catcher
Zach Leach (fr. Long Valley, NJ/Pope John XXIII), shortstop
Matt Edwards (so. Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan), Brown and Jolly all scored one run.
First baseman Alex Perry (jr. North Attleboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) and designated hitter Stephen Cirella (fr. Jamestown, RI/North Kingstown) both went two-for-three for Salve Regina. Perry registered a double and Cirella had one RBI. Second baseman John Militano (jr. Miller Place, NY/Nashoba Reg.) and third baseman Colton Eremian (so. Boca Raton, FL/Boca Raton) each touched the plate once.
It was a pitcher's duel until the sixth inning when the Profs put up five runs. Edwards walked and Brown followed with a single. They both scored on errors. Golla came home on Sadler's sacrifice fly and the score was 3-0. Rose had a base hit to right to plate Jolly. Mendel's sac fly brought home Strickland.
In the seventh, Eremian led off with a walk then went to second on a wild pitch. He then scored on an error. The Seahawks got within three in the eighth when Militano touched home on a miscue. Leach scored on a balk in the ninth for the final tally.
Rowan plays Centenary University on Thursday, March 16 at 9 a.m.
