KINGS POINT, NY – The Rowan University women's swimming and diving team defeated the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 193-105 on Saturday.
The Profs finished the dual meet season with a 6-3 record while the Mariners are 9-2 overall.
Rowan won the 400 medley (4:08.33) and 200 freestyle (1:42.66) relays. The medley relay included
Alex Bambrick (fr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell),
Bailey Howarth (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.),
Gabby Gligor (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and
Miranda Coughlan (so. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.).
Polina Dineva (jr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.),
Bianca Karpinski (fr. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown),
Julie Sheehan (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and Coughlan were on the free relay.
The Profs also had a second place (4:13.43) in the 400 medley relay with the B team of Karpinski,
Megan Miller (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.),
Nikki Broome (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Dineva.
Isabelle Landon (fr. Annandale, VA/Falls Church),
Emily LaBenski (fr. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.),
Daria Mnich (fr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and
Gabrielle Moskalow (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) were on the 200 freestyle B relay that finished second (1:47.27).
Coughlan swam a winning time of 29.20 in the 50 backstroke. Gligor captured first place (1:00.78) in the 100 butterfly and she was second (1:21.84) in the 100 freestyle. Sheehan took first in the 50 free (26.19) and 50 butterfly (28.00). Bambrick was the winner (1:02.53) in the 100 backstroke.
Carlee Timmins (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) touched first (10:55.45) in the 1000 freestyle and LaBenski followed second (11:09.64). Timmins also won (5:23.78) the 500 freestyle. In the 50 breaststroke, Miller took first (32.14) and Howarth was second (32.96). Howarth won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.66 and Miller followed second (1:11.65).
Bambrick finished second (2:02.55) in the 200 freestyle and Landon was third (2:07.74). In the 50 backstroke, Mnich and Karpinski were second (29.61) and third (29.86) respectively. Karpinski had a second place (5:32.54) in the 500 freestyle and
Claire McKissick (fr. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was third (5:35.20).
In diving,
Corinne Finkbinder (fr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) took second place in the one-meter event (five dives) with 223.65 points. She was third in the one-meter diving (six dives) (159.08). Broome had a second place (2:26.51) in the 200 individual medley and she was third (1:05.57) in the 100 butterfly.
Amanda Burke (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) was third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.95) and 200 individual medley (2:26.97).
Mandi Basantis (so. Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) finished third (27.62) in the 50 free while Dineva was third (28.77) in the 50 butterfly. LaBenski took third (1:12.45) in the 100 breaststroke.
