KINGS POINT, NY – The Rowan University men's swimming and diving team had a 152-148 loss at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday.
 
The Profs were ahead 142-141 going into the last event.  The Mariners won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:26.04 while the Rowan A and B relays were second (1:26.56) and third (1:29.93) respectively.  The A relay included Eric Feuerstein (jr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit), Jake Kayati (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown), Nate Wojtowicz (so. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and Jesse Novak (sr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).  The B relay consisted of Marc Gernardt (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), John Shellem (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Matt McSorley (fr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Adam Sicinski (so. Allentown, PA/Parkland).
 
Rowan finishes with a 7-2 dual meet record while USMMA is 7-3 on the season.  The 400 medley relay of Dan Lawton (so. Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), Matt Grubb (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Nick Marte (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Novak came in second with a time of 3:30.95. 
 
Novak captured first in the 50 free (21.04) and the 50 butterfly (23.28).  John Tepper (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Atlantic County Institute of Tech.) was the winner (9:55.35) in the 1000 freestyle.  He was second (4:52.08) in the 500 freestyle and third (1:49.38) in the 200 free.
 
Sicinski recorded a first place (52.98) in the 100 backstroke.  Lawton and Sicinski were first (24.73) and second (24.94) respectively in the 50 backstroke.  Grubb swam a winning time of 26.79 in the 50 breaststroke and he was second (59.96) in the 100 breaststroke.  Kayati came in second (23.79) in the 50 butterfly.   
 
In diving, Sean Piacente (so. New City, NY/Clarkstown S.) totaled 331.95 points for first place on the three-meter board.  He also finished third (185.93) in the one-meter.  John Morris (sr. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) had second places in the one-meter (189.25) and three-meter (293.18) diving.
 
Chris Boyle (sr. Springfield, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) finished second (1:49.33) in the 200 freestyle.  Gernhardt took second (53.27) in the 100 butterfly and he tied for third (49.46) in the 100 free with Wojtowicz.  Marte was third (53.35) in the 100 butterfly and Colin Fisher (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) finished third (2:02.77) in the 200 individual medley.
