Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's basketball team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 93-68 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday night.
The Profs are riding a four game win streak. They are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Scarlet Raptors drop to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the NJAC.
Forward
TJ Booth (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Forward
Austin Kearney (so. Monroeville, NJ/Gloucester County Christian) also produced a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Guard
Walter Harvey (fr. Woolwich, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) contributed with 12 points while guards
Rob DePersia (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and
Nick DePersia (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) each chipped in with 10 points and four assists. Guard/forward
Ramon Wright (jr. East Orange, NJ/Irvington) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
For Rutgers-Camden, forward Isaac Destin (jr. Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood) totaled 17 points and nine rebounds. Guard Vincent Anfield Jr. (sr. Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) and guard Marcus Taylor (sr. Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) had nine points apiece. Guard John Herndon (fr. Philadelphia, PA/West Catholic Prep) followed with eight points.
The score was tied four times in the first half. The last one was at 14 (13:39) after Destin's layup. Rowan answered with a 13-2 run to lead by 11 (27-16) at 11:03. Harvey led the way with six points, guard
DaRon Curry (jr. Deptford, NJ/Phelps School (PA)) added five and
Nick DePersia had two. Anfield's basket made the score 29-20 (8:29) and the Scarlet Raptors were down by nine. The Profs had an 8-0 spurt to lead by 17 (37-20) with 6:26 remaining.
With 3:46 on the clock, Harvey drilled a three and the score was 43-24. Rowan led by 21 points (48-27) after Kearney sank two foul shots at the 55-second mark. The Profs were ahead 48-31 at the break.
The closest Rutgers-Camden came in the second stanza was 13 points. Taylor scored with a layup (13:41) and the Scarlet Raptors trailed 59-46. Rowan started to pull away with eight straight points to lead by 21 (67-46) at 10:14. Booth collected five points in the run.
Nick DePersia's three at 4:42 put the Profs up by 25 points (84-59). Rowan's biggest lead of the game was 30 points (1:12) when guard
Nick Battle (so. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) nailed a three-pointer.
