Men's Basketball Wins 88-72 Over Susquehanna

Box Score SELINSGROVE, PA – The Rowan University men's basketball team won 88-72 over host Susquehanna University in the consolation game of the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.   
 
The Profs are 1-1 on the season.  In the first round on Friday, Albright defeated Rowan, 85-63 and Susquehanna lost to King's College, 93-89.
 
Guard Rob DePersia (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) scored a career and game-high 23 points.  He was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Guard Jeff Haddock (so. Burlington, NJ/Willingboro) came off the bench and contributed with 15 points and forward Austin Kearney (so. Monroeville, NJ/Gloucester County Christian) added 12.  Guard/forward Ramon Wright (jr. East Orange, NJ/Irvington) grabbed 14 rebounds, 12 were defensive boards.  Forward TJ Booth (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.
 
For the River Hawks, center Ryan Traub (sr. Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive) totaled 18 points and nine rebounds.  Guard Bryce Butler (fr. Abingdon, MD/Suffield Academy) produced a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Center Jacob Walsh (so. Hockessin, DE/Sanford School) registered 13 points and seven boards.  Guard Tyler Hoagland (jr. Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) and guard Matt LaCorte (fr. Westfield, NJ/Westfield) scored 10 points apiece. 
 
The Profs led the entire first half.  They were ahead by seven points (16-9) at 15:41 after a layup by guard DaRon Curry (jr. Deptford, NJ/Phelps School (PA)).  Haddock's basket made the score 21-11 (13:27).  Traub hit a three (11:54) and Suquehanna trailed by five (22-17).  Haddock nailed back-to-back threes (10:43, 10:00) for a 12-point advantage (31-19).  Booth sank a three (5:46) and the score was 39-29.  Susquehanna answered with seven straight points to pull within three (39-36) with 3:21 remaining.  Haddock hit a jumper (1:06) and Traub followed with a layup (0:43) to end the period with Rowan ahead 46-43.  All 15 of Haddock's points were in the first half while Traub had 13.
 
Rowan continued to maintain the lead throughout the second stanza.  Kearney's basket put the Profs up by 13 (58-45) at 15:45.  DePersia drilled a three for a 14-point lead (78-64) with 4:21 on the clock.  He ended the game with one free throw at 1:18 and two more at 1:07 for the final score.  DePersia scored 17 points in the final half and Wright had 10 rebounds.
 
Next week, Rowan hosts Stockton University in the home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.
