Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team upset seventh ranked Montclair State University, 2-1 on Friday night in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game.
Midfielder
Casey Wagner (so. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) scored the game-winner at 66:47. She blasted a shot off a pass from back
Dayna DeVincentz (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) who took the penalty corner.
The Profs are 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Red Hawks have a 12-2 record with a 2-2 NJAC mark.
Forward/midfielder
Jenni Panzarino (jr. New Providence, NJ/Old Bridge) gave Rowan a 1-0 lead at 16:33. She tipped in a shot from the top of the circle by midfielder
Julie Johnson (jr. Mount Ephraim, NJ/Audubon). Forward/midfielder Kaitlyn Struss (sr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) tied the score at 21:15. She hit the cage after a cross from forward/midfielder Amber Haslett (jr. Butler, NJ/Butler).
Rowan goalie
Carly DeMarco (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) and Montclair State goalie Kaitlin Maguire (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) each made three saves. The Profs took 10 shots while the Red Hawks had four.
Next week, Rowan travels to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Oct. 18 for a 4:30 p.m. game.
