Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's basketball team led from start to finish in a 105-85 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory versus Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday.
The Profs improve to 12-7 overall and 7-5 in the conference. The Scarlet Raptors drop to 4-14 with a 1-11 NJAC mark.
Rowan guard
Nick DePersia (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) totaled a season-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 6-for-7 from three-point range. He added five steals. Guard
Rob DePersia (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) registered a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists. The assist total tied his career mark. Center/forward
Teirique Robinson (jr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and finished with a season-high 20 points. Forward
Shawn Wilson (sr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) and guard
Josh Borrelli (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) contributed with 13 and 10 points respectively. Forward
TJ Booth (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) grabbed seven rebounds.
Guard Shafeek Taylor (jr. Philadelphia, PA/Mathematics, Civics & Sciences Charter School) led Rutgers-Camden with 24 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Isaac Destin (so. Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood) tallied 19 points and eight boards. Guard Elijah Robles (so. Clifton, NJ/Clifton) and forward Dior Johnson (sr. Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively. They each corralled six rebounds.
The Profs were ahead 9-5 (18:02) and increased their lead to 13 (22-9) with a 13-4 run that ended at 15:19.
Nick DePersia sparked the charge with nine points. Forward
Brian Thatcher (fr. North Port, FL/Charlotte) hit a three (10:06) and Rowan had a 33-18 advantage. Forward
Jordan Sintras (fr. Sydney, Australia/St. Ignatius' College, Riverview) drilled a triple (2:34) and the score was 54-36. Borrelli (0:36) and
Nick DePersia (0:02) ended the half with back-to-back three-pointers and the Profs were up 62-41 at the break.
The Scarlet Raptors recorded the first 10 points of the second half to cut the deficit to 11 (62-51). However, Rowan pulled away again with a 20-4 surge that culminated with a dunk by Robinson at the 12:27 mark.
Nick DePersia scored 10 points in the stretch, Robinson had eight and the score was 82-55. Wilson's three (9:51) gave the Profs their largest lead at 28 (89-61).
Rowan visits Montclair State University for a NJAC contest on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
