GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming and diving team won 190-94 against The College of New Jersey and captured the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship.
The Profs ended TCNJ's 12 straight conference championships. It marked Rowan's 10th NJAC title. Rowan has a 5-2 record with a final 4-0 conference mark. The Lions are 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
The Profs took first and second place in the 200 medley relay. The A relay of
Alex Bambrick (fr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell),
Bailey Howarth (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.),
Gabby Gligor (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and
Miranda Coughlan (so. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) finished in 1:51.45.
Daria Mnich (fr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson),
Megan Miller (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.),
Nikki Broome (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Polina Dineva (jr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) were on the B medley relay that had a time of 1:52.38. Dineva, Miller,
Julie Sheehan (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and Coughlan made up the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:41.08).
Coughlan recorded first places in the 50 (24.29) and 100 (53.39) freestyles.
Carlee Timmins (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) was the winner in the 1000 (10:53.36) and 500 (5:24.87) freestyles. Bambrick finished first in the 100 (1:00.69) and 200 (2:13.35) backstrokes. Miller touched first (1:09.05) in the 100 breaststroke. In the 200 butterfly, Broome won in 2:16.81 and Gligor was third (2:18.33).
Rowan took first, second and third in the 200 freestyle.
Emily LaBenski (fr. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) was the winner (1:59.75) followed by Sheehan, second (2:02.98) and
Isabelle Landon (fr. Annandale, VA/Falls Church), third (2:03.01). LaBenski also won the 200 breaststroke (2:30.20) and 200 individual medley (2:17.39). Sheehan had a second place (55.57) in the 100 freestyle and she was third (25.65) in the 50 free. In the 100 butterfly, Gligor and Broome finished first (1:00.20) and second (1:02.61) respectively. Broome also had a third place (2:15.37) in the 200 backstroke.
Bianca Karpinski (fr. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) came in second (2:14.17) in the 200 backstroke and she was third (11:02.13) in the 1000 freestyle.
Claire McKissick (fr. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finished third (5:28.18) in the 500 free. Dineva took third in the 100 free (55.79) and 100 butterfly (1:03.15). Howarth finished second (2:30.85) in the 200 breaststroke and third (1:10.12) in the 100 breaststroke.
TCNJ's 400 freestyle relay of Brenna Strollo (sr. Long Branch, NJ/Biotechnology), Cassidy Bergeron (jr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery), Ali Huber (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and Emily Rothstein (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was second in 3:46.65. The 200 medley relay came in third with a time of 1:54.34. Strollo, Marta Lawler (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), Maddie Hynoski (so. Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon Reg.) and Huber were on the medley relay.
Sarah Grassi (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Camden Catholic) was the winner in the one-meter and three-meter diving with 312.00 and 277.80 points respectively. Lawler took second (1:09.76) in the 100 breaststroke and she was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.87) and 200 individual medley (2:20.30). Huber had a second place (25.59) in the 50 free. Gabi Denicola (so. Oradell, NJ/River Dell Reg.) finished second in the 1000 (10:56.33) and 500 (5:27.52) freestyles. Jillian Galindo (jr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) came in second (2:19.60) in the 200 individual medley.
