MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming and diving team defeated host Montclair State University, 168-117 on Saturday.
The Profs won the 200 medley (1:53.74) and 400 freestyle (3:46.89) relays. The medley relay included
Alex Bambrick (fr. Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell),
Bailey Howarth (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.),
Gabby Gligor (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and
Miranda Coughlan (so. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.). Coughlan, Bambrick,
Bianca Karpinski (fr. Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) and
Carlee Timmins (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) made up the free relay.
The Profs are 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Red Hawks have a 6-3 record and a 2-0 conference mark.
Gligor captured first (2:19.03) in the 200 butterfly. Coughlan swam 54.11 in the 100 freestyle for first place. Karpinski was the winner (11:07.05) in the 1000 freestyle and Timmins had a first place (5:25.17) in the 500 freestyle. In the 200 individual medley, Karpinski finished second (2:19.74) and Gligor was third (2:22.14).
Bambrick touched first (1:01.87) in the 100 backstroke.
Nikki Broome (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a winning time of 1:02.97 in the 100 butterfly.
Corinne Finkbinder (fr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) was the winner in the one-meter diving (six dives) with 214.27 points. She also took first (336.72) in the one-meter diving (11 dives).
Emily LaBenski (fr. Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Twp.) finished second in the 1000 freestyle (11:12.41) and the 200 breaststroke (2:30.80).
Claire McKissick (fr. Ellicott City, MD/Archbishop Spalding) took second (2:03.56) in the 200 freestyle while
Polina Dineva (jr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) was second (25.70) in the 50 free. McKissick was also third (5:38.88) in the 500 freestyle. Dineva had a third place (1:03.53) in the 100 butterfly.
In the 100 breaststroke,
Megan Miller (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) came in second (1:09.67) and
Cayleigh McCusker (jr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) was third (1:17.23). Howarth had a second place (2:21.94) in the 200 butterfly and she was third (2:31.16) in the 200 breaststroke.
Isabelle Landon (fr. Annandale, VA/Falls Church) was second (2:20.85) in the 200 backstroke and third (1:04.99) in the 100 backstroke.
Julie Sheehan(sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) took third (56.68) in the 100 freestyle.
Next, Rowan hosts The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. It is the Profs' last home meet of the season.
