Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – Montclair State University shut out Rowan University, 3-0 to win the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Men's Soccer Championship on Friday night.
The Red Hawks (16-5-1) receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. It was their second NJAC title in three years and 12
th overall. The Profs have a 16-2-1 record. The national tournament selections will be announced on Monday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. on ncaa.com.
Montclair State benefited from an own goal less than four minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. Midfielder Jake Seaman (so. Montclair, NJ/Montclair) hit the back of the net off a free kick by forward Mike Olla (sr. Bloomfield, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) at 62:25. Olla's blast was saved by the goalkeeper but the rebound went to Seaman and he found the left side of the goal. Midfielder Collin Mulligan (fr. Freehold, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) scored unassisted at 71:02.
The Profs had a 29-9 advantage in shots but could not get on the scoreboard. Red Hawk goalie Mike Saalfrank (so. Ramsey, NJ/Ramsey) made eight saves for his sixth shutout. Rowan goalkeeper
