Box Score GALLOWAY, NJ – The Rowan University men's basketball team won 101-100 at Stockton University in the conference opener on Tuesday night.
With 49 seconds left, guard/forward Brandon Hamilton (so. Camden, NJ/Paulsboro) hit a jumper and tied the score at 98 for the Ospreys. Forward
Shawn Wilson (sr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) gave the Profs the lead (99-98) with a foul shot (0:38). Wilson went to the line again at the 16 second mark and sank two free throws, which made the score 101-98. Guard Khaliq Ford (jr. Millville, NJ/Millville) had a layup with three seconds on the clock to end the scoring.
Wilson finished the game with 21 points and six rebounds. Guard
Jeff Haddock (fr. Burlington, NJ/Willingboro) contributed with a career-high 22 points, which included seven three-pointers. Guard
Rob DePersia (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) chipped in with 18 points and six assists.
Rowan is 3-1 overall while Stockton has a 1-1 record. Ford scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed six rebounds. Hamilton totaled 22 points while forward Marcus Harmon (jr. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) and guard Zavon Johnson (jr. Trenton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) each had 12. Guard Kashaun Barnes (so. Toms River, NJ/Manchester Twp.) produced seven points and seven boards.
In the second half, Haddock's three-pointer (9:47) gave Rowan a seven-point advantage (78-71). Harmon registered two free throws (6:55) and Stockton trailed by two (82-80). Haddock answered with a three to lead 85-80 with 6:35 left. DePersia nailed two foul shots (5:35) and increased the advantage to six (88-82). He had two more free throws (3:31) and the score was 96-90. The Ospreys knotted the score at 96 (1:46) with three straight baskets by Ford. Rowan went ahead 98-96 with Wilson's layup (1:18) before Hamilton's tying jump shot.
Stockton was up 31-27 with 6:47 remaining in the first half. Rowan pulled away with a 23-5 surge that ended at 1:37 with a Wilson tip-in. Haddock and Wilson scored nine points apiece in the run. Stockton forward Steve Ferebee (fr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) hit a three (0:50) and DePersia followed with a basket (0:05). The Profs were ahead 52-39 at the intermission.
Rowan travels to Division I Princeton University on Friday, Nov. 25 for a 5 p.m. exhibition game.
