Box Score EWING, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-1 victory at The College of New Jersey in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Wednesday.
The 10
th-ranked Profs are 15-1-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the conference. The Lions have an 8-8-2 record with a 4-4-1 NJAC mark. Rowan is the second seed in the conference tournament and will host either TCNJ or Stockton University in the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The Ospreys welcome the Lions for a first round game on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
Forward
Shane Doherty (so. Delran, NJ/Delran) scored twice in the first half for the Profs. He beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway after a pass from midfielder
Tyler Logar (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) at 20:11. Doherty's second tally came at 37:33 when he followed up his own rebound and kicked the ball into the lower right corner.
Forward Thomas Hogue (sr. Ridgefield Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) got the Lions within one at 60:19. His shot deflected off the goalie and into the net. Back Matt Decker (fr. Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills) had the assist.
Midfielder
Jake Conners (jr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) added an insurance goal with 14:14 to play. He collected a loose ball and buried a shot from 18 yards out.
Goalkeeper
Kyle Dennis (so. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) made six saves for Rowan. TCNJ goalie Dan Walsh (so. Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) stopped four shots.
