Stockton Men's Basketball Holds On For 68-65 Win Over Rowan

Box Score GALLOWAY, NJ  – The Stockton University men's basketball team held on for a 68-65 win over conference opponent Rowan University on Wednesday night.   
 
With 1:49 remaining, guard Kris O'Connor's (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) jumper gave the Profs a 65-64 lead.  Stockton followed with a three-pointer by forward Marcus Harmon (so. Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Twp.) to go ahead 67-65 (1:24).  Harmon made the first of two foul shots (68-65) with 10 seconds left to seal the victory.
 
Harmon ended the game with 13 points and five rebounds.  Forward Jaymere Hadden (jr. Millville, NJ/Millville) and guard Armin Cane (sr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) each scored 17 points.  Forward Darius Jerkins (so. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) and Cane grabbed seven boards apiece.  Forward Maurice Hart (jr. Asbury Park, NJ/Asbury Park) contributed with eight points and six rebounds.
 
The Ospreys are 12-5 overall and 7-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Profs have a 6-11 record and a 3-7 conference mark.
 
Guard Nick DePersia (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and O'Connor totaled 12 points apiece.  Forward Shawn Wilson (jr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) registered 11 points and five rebounds.  Forward Chris Gross (sr. Cranford, NJ/Roselle Catholic) and center Dan Brogan (sr. Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) added 10 and nine points respectively.  Brogan and O'Connor each collected six boards.  
 
In the second stanza, Rowan led by 15 (43-28) after Brogan's jumper at 17:11.  Stockton followed with 16 unanswered points and went ahead 44-43 with 12:53 on the clock.  Five different Ospreys contributed in the surge.  O'Connor's three at 9:50 gave the Profs a one-point advantage (51-50).  Gross had a jumper (6:53) and Wilson sank a three (6:28) for a six-point lead (58-52).  Hart's two free throws at 4:42 pulled the Ospreys within two (60-58).  Hadden put Stockton up 64-63 (2:56) with a three-pointer.  O'Connor's basket (1:49) gave Rowan its last lead of the game.
 
Stockton was ahead 6-4 at 17:51 in the first half.  After six straight points, Rowan led by four (10-6) with 13:08 remaining.  Wilson and DePersia each had two foul shots and Brogan hit a jump shot.  Hart's layup (10:05) cut the deficit to one (12-11).  The Profs built a 10-point advantage (22-12) with a 10-1 run.  Guard Josh Borrelli (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) produced two-three pointers while Brogan had one and Carthan made a free throw.  O'Connor's layup at 3:45 made the score 29-15.  With 32 seconds left, Wilson had a basket and the score was 36-23.  Cane nailed a three (0:01) to end the half.  The Profs were up 36-26 at the intermission.
 
Next, Rowan travels to Ramapo College on Saturday, Jan. 23 for a 3 p.m. NJAC game.
