Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team defeated Shenandoah University, 2-1 in overtime on Saturday night. It was the final game of the Profs Soccer Classic.
Midfielder
Darah Wagner (fr.. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored the winning goal with 1:05 left in the second overtime. She lifted the ball high from outside the box and it went over Shenandoah goalkeeper Erin Septer (jr. Hamilton, NJ/West) into the net.
The Profs are 2-0 on the season while the Hornets drop to 0-3 overall. In the other classic game, Ithaca College had a 2-1 victory over Ursinus College. In the opener on Friday, Rowan won 1-0 over Ithaca and Ursinus shut out Shenandoah, 4-0.
The Hornets led 1-0 after the first half with an own goal at 32:24. Forward
Maxine New (jr. Clayton, NJ/Clayton) tied the score on a penalty kick with 10:28 left in regulation. Shenandoah was called for a handball.
Rowan goalkeeper
Shelby Money (fr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland) stopped six shots while Septer had three saves.
The Profs play at John Jay College on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. and Medgar Evers College on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
