Box Score GRANTHAM, PA – The Rowan University men's soccer team held off a late comeback attempt by #11 Messiah College and upset the Falcons, 4-2 on Saturday night.
It's the Profs' fifth straight victory and they have a record of 6-1. The Falcons are 3-2-1. This is Rowan's first-ever win over Messiah.

Kyle Dennis (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) stopped six shots. Messiah goalie Jonathan Weaver (jr. Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) made one save.
Forwards
Travis Ward (so. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) and
Shane Doherty (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) each hit the back of the net twice. Doherty also had an assist. Midfielder
Vinny Ignatowicz (jr. Toms River, NJ/Tom River S.) added an assist.
For Messiah, midfielder Nick West (fr. East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) scored twice. Back Nathan Eagan (sr. Fort Collins, CO/Heritage Christian Academy) and midfielder Zack Bosshard (jr. Medina, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) recorded one assist apiece.
Ward put Rowan on the scoreboard at the 7:32 mark, scoring on a shot from the top of the box. He then doubled the Profs lead 2:46 into the second half as he beat the keeper from the left side. Doherty extended Rowan's advantage to 3-0, shooting over the goalie and into an empty net. He made the score 4-0 at the 63:40 mark, knocking the ball in after Ignatowicz's shot was blocked by a defender.
West cut the deficit to 4-1 with 20:34 left to play when he took a cross from Eagan and headed it into the net. With 13:49 on the clock, West put in the rebound off Bosshard's free kick.
Rowan returns home to face Berkeley College (NJ) on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.
