Haverford Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Rowan, 15-13

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team held off a late charge by Rowan University, winning by the score of 15-13 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
For the Fords, midfielder Diana Perry (sr. Bethesda, MD/Milton Academy (MA)) led the way with six goals and six draw controls. Midfielder Molly Lausten (fr. Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) scored four times. Attack Elyse Adler (jr. San Mateo, CA/Menlo School) recorded three goals and midfielder Sarina Manetta (so. Commack, NY/Commack) chipped in with two. Midfielder Christina Gould (jr. Newtown, CT/Lauralton Hall) registered one assist.
 
Attack Becca Wood (sr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) was the Profs' leading scorer with six goals. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (sr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) and attack Rachel Emerson (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) each added two goals and one assist. Midfielders Ali Herbert (so. Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Reg.) and Kelly O'Brien (so. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) and attack Vicky Sucharski (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) scored one goal apiece. Herbert also had one assist and nine draw controls. O'Brien recorded five draw controls.
 
Haverford has a record of 6-3 and Rowan drops to 2-3. Fords' goalie Megan Chenworth (jr. Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) (6-3) stopped 11 shots. Goalie Erin Horner (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) (2-2) made 10 saves for the Profs.
 
Rowan started the game with three straight goals as Blondina (2:25), Wood (2:35) and Herbert (2:51) each hit the back of the net. Haverford responded with five straight tallies, including three in a row by Perry (6:09, 10:41 and 13:34), to take a 5-3 lead with 9:41 on the clock. The Profs tied the score (5-5) after goals by Blondina (21:05) and Wood (22:05). Lausten put the Fords back out in front with 6:09 left. Wood converted a free-position attempt (28:00) to knot the contest at six. Perry gave the Fords a 7-6 lead at halftime, scoring with just nine seconds remaining.
 
The second half began with two consecutive goals by Manetta (30:26) and Adler (33:15). Wood's tally at the 34:01 mark made the score 9-7 then Lausten (40:06), Adler (41:08) and Manetta (41:36) each scored, giving Haverford a 12-7 advantage. The Profs trimmed the deficit to two (12-10) after Wood (44:53), Sucharski (46:01) and Wood (47:05) registered goals. Perry (49:35) and Emerson (51:36) traded goals, making the score 13-11. Perry (52:45) and Lausten (56:06) tallied back-to-back scores, putting the Fords ahead by four (15-11). Emerson (58:26) and O'Brien (58:48) cut the lead to 15-13, but Rowan could not get any closer before time ran out.
 
Rowan travels to Cabrini College on Friday, March 27 at 4 p.m.
