Box Score EWING, NJ – The Rowan University men's basketball team won 69-63 at The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night.
The Profs are 13-8 overall and 7-7 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Lions have a 12-9 record with an 8-6 conference mark. Forward
Ike Robinson (jr. Trenton, NJ/Conwell-Egan Catholic (PA)) led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard
Kris O'Connor (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) totaled 18 points. Forward
Daniel Waynick (sr. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) chipped in with eight points and forward
Chris Gross (jr. Cranford, NJ/Roselle Catholic) followed with seven. Forwards
Mike Simpson (sr. Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Twp.) and
Skylar Moore (jr. Westville, NJ/Hempstead (NY)) each had four assists.
Guards Jayson Johnson (sr. Bordentown, NJ/Life Center Academy) and Eric Murdock (fr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) led TCNJ with 15 points apiece. Forward Bobby Brackett (jr. Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) grabbed seven boards and Johnson tallied six. Forward Eilas Bermudez (fr. Westwood, NJ/Westwood) registered nine points.
In the second half, Rowan had a 14-point advantage (53-39) at 9:50 after a three by O'Connor. Center
Dan Brogan (jr. Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) sank two foul shots (7:14) and Rowan led 58-47. Murdock had two points at the line (6:27) and he recorded a three-pointer (5:32) to cut the deficit to six (58-52). TCNJ pulled within three points (61-58) after Murdock's three with 2:31 on the clock. Johnson made a layup (0:41) and the Lions trailed by three (65-62). Waynick scored two points at the charity stripe (0:23) to lead 67-62. Brackett made the second of two free throws (0:13) to pull within four points (67-63). Waynick sealed the win with a dunk at the eight-second mark on an assist from forward
TJ Booth (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown).
There were 10 ties in the first half, which ended 32-32. TCNJ forward Skyelar Ettin (sr. Princeton, NJ/Princeton) hit a three at 15:36 and the score was tied at 10. Rowan went up 17-10 (11:19) with a 7-0 run. Robinson contributed with three points while O'Connor and Moore each had two. The Lions answered with six straight points and trailed by one (17-16) with 9:55 remaining. Forward Alex Fox (sr. Washington, NJ/Westwood), guard Kevin Johnson (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and Bermudez each sank a basket. Brogan had a layup (9:34) for a 19-16 lead. Kevin Johnson hit a three-pointer (9:18) and the score was knotted at 19. O'Connor drained a three (3:05) and it was 30-30. Robinson's layup put the Profs ahead 32-30 (2:01). Jayson Johnson tied the score with a layup with 44 seconds left.
