Box Score EWING, NJ –The College of New Jersey men's basketball team won 82-71 over conference opponent Rowan University on Wednesday night.
Guard Eric Murdock (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) led the way with a game-high 27 points. He also dished 10 assists. Forward Jordan Glover (fr. Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) contributed with 16 points and nine rebounds. Guard Eric Klacik (jr. Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) chipped in with 14 points and nine boards. Forward Elias Bermudez (so. Westwood, NJ/Westwood) and center Steven Kelly (so. Newton, NJ/Newton) added 10 and nine points respectively.
The Lions are 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs have a 2-8 record with a 0-4 conference mark.
For Rowan, guard
Kris O'Connor (sr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) totaled 17 points and seven rebounds. Forward
Shawn Wilson (jr. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) had 16 points and six boards. Guard
Nick DePersia (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) produced 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
TCNJ was ahead 42-25 to start the second half. Bermudez's layup at 14:32 made the score 48-37. Rowan answered with a 13-3 run and cut the deficit to one (51-50) with 9:47 remaining. Five different players contributed with points in the surge. O'Connor tied the score at 55 (8:36) with a three-pointer. Murdock's three gave the Lions a four-point advantage (60-56) at 7:30. Forward
TJ Booth (so. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) made two foul shots (6:33) and Rowan went ahead 61-60. Murdock scored a three-pointer (6:12) and a layup (5:08) then he had two free throws (4:42) to lead 67-61.
O'Connor hit a three at 4:01 and the Profs trailed 69-66. The Lions scored nine straight points for a 12-point lead (78-66) with 1:10 left. Five points came at the line. Murdock collected 14 points in the second period and Bermudez had 10.
Next, Rowan hosts Ramapo College on Saturday, December 12 at 3 p.m. It is the Profs' last game before the semester break.
