ResultsWAYNE, NJ – The Rowan University women's swim team defeated William Paterson University, 106-94 on Tuesday.
The Profs are 1-1 on the season and the Pioneers have a 3-1 record. It was the first New Jersey Athletic Conference meet for both teams.
Rowan won both relay events. The 200 medley relay finished with a time of 1:58.47 while the 200 freestyle relay took first in 1:47.22. The medley relay included
Miranda Coughlan (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.),
Sam Wahl (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood),
Julie Sheehan (jr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and
Polina Dineva (so. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.). Sheehan,
Amanda Burke (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.),
Olivia Wojtowicz (sr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and Dineva were on the free relay.
Julia DelNero (sr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and Wojtowicz were winners in two individual events. DelNero had first places in the 200 (2:07.73) and 500 (5:39.50) freestyles. Wojtowicz won the 1000 freestyle (11:35.67) and 100 butterfly (1:04.43).
Gabby Gligor (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finished first (58.00) in the 100 free and Coughlan came in first (25.30) in the 50. Gligor was second (2:25.78) in the 200 individual medley followed by Wahl, third (2:28.70) and Sheehan, fourth (2:29.86).
Dineva had a second place (12:01.76) in the 1000 freestyle and Burke was second (2:14.86) in the 200 free.
Nicole DePaola (sr. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) took second (1:08.50) in the 100 backstroke and Wahl was second (1:15.19) in the 100 breaststroke.
Next, Rowan hosts Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
