GRANTHAM, PA – The Rowan University women's basketball team opened the 2015-16 season with an 81-73 victory over Lehman College in the Hampton Inn Holiday Tip-Off hosted by Messiah College.
It was the season opener for both teams. In the other game, Susquehanna University defeated Messiah, 78-73 in double overtime. The Profs face Susquehanna in the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3 p.m.
Guard
Anyssa Sanchez (jr. Stratford, NJ/Sterling) scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four steals and three assists. Guard/forward
Kaitlin Schullstrom (gr. Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) tallied 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Guard/forward
Melissa Lake (gr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added 12 points and seven boards. Forward
Kate Matthews (gr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.
For Lehman, guard Jennifer Navarro (sr. Jamaica, NY/Grover Cleveland) tallied a game-high 29 points. Guard Amely Del Rosario (jr. Bronx, NJ/John F. Kennedy) collected 21 points and forward/center Yarmese Jones (sr. Astoria, NY/William C. Bryant) had 12 points and eight rebounds.
