GRANTHAM, PA – The Rowan University women's basketball team won the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic Championship, 68-59 in overtime over Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon. The two-day tournament was hosted by Messiah College.
Rowan is 2-0 to start the season and the Crusaders are 1-1. In the consolation game, Messiah recorded a 67-49 victory over Lehman College.

Anyssa Sanchez (jr. Stratford, NJ/Sterling) and forward
Kate Matthews (gr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) each collected a double-double. Sanchez was named the tournament's most valuable player and Matthews was named to the all-tournament team. Sanchez had 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Matthews tallied 10 points and 13 boards. Guard/forward
Melissa Lake (gr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) collected nine points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Guard/forward
Kaitlin Schullstrom (gr. Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) added 13 points.
For Susquehanna, guard Nikki Komara (jr. Shamokin, PA/Lourdes Reg.) recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Forward/center Courtney Adams (so. Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton W.) chipped in with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Sofia Schedler (sr. Alexandria, VA/TC Williams) contributed with 11 points.
Next, Rowan hosts Delaware Valley University in its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
