Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University football team ended the 2015 campaign with a 20-0 loss to The College of New Jersey on Friday night.
The Profs finish the season with a record 6-4 and a 5-4 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Lions conclude their campaign 4-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Running back Victor Scalici (sr. Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) had 264 yards rushing on 47 attempts and two touchdowns. Quarterback Michael Marchesano (jr. New Providence, NJ/New Providence) completed nine passes in nine attempts for 79 yards. He also recorded a rushing touchdown. Tight end Chase Vena (so. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) caught four passes for 28 yards.
Linebacker Zack Vasilenko (sr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) made nine tackles, including three for a loss (8 yards) and one sack (2 yards). Linebacker Jeffrey Skomsky (sr. Maple Shade, NJ/Paul VI) and defensive lineman Troy Domenick (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) each recorded six stops. Domenick also recovered a fumble.
For Rowan, running back
Quincey Lambert (fr. Browns Mills, NJ/Pemberton Twp.) carried the ball 11 times for 35 yards. Quarterback
Dante Pinckney (so. Lawnside, NJ/Haddon Heights) threw for 54 yards (7-21). Wide receiver
Russ Forchion (sr. Clementon, NJ/Hammonton) made four receptions for 37 yards.
Defensive lineman
Sebastian Ljoka (sr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) collected 13 tackles and recovered a fumble. Linebackers
John Barillo (jr. Ventnor, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) and
Darren Dungee (sr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and defensive back
Bobby Barbieri (jr. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) each tallied 10 tackles. Dungee accumulated 115 total tackles this season, breaking the previous mark of 112 set by Bobby Fisher in 2011.
Scalici scored his first touchdown on a 15-yard run with 9:40 remaining in the first quarter. He capped a nine-play 75-yard drive to open the game. The point after attempt was blocked by defensive lineman
Sean Borkowski (sr. Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park). Scalici crossed the goal line from one-yard out at the 12:52 mark of the second. The drive traveled 88 yards on 15 plays and took 7:52 off the clock. Marchesano ran the ball into the end zone from the one-yard line with 11:13 to play in the third.
