ResultsGLASSBORO, NJ – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swim team defeated Rowan University, 157-102 on Saturday. It was the first meet of the season for both teams.
The Profs took first place in the 200 medley (1:52.56) and 400 freestyle (3:52.04) relays. The medley relay included
Polina Dineva (so. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.),
Olivia Wojtowicz (sr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County),
Gabby Gligor (fr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Miranda Coughlin (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.). Coughlan, Dineva,
Julie Sheehan (jr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) and
Julia DelNero (sr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) were on the free relay.
Wojtowicz won the 100 (1:10.33) and 200 (2:32.21) breaststrokes. She had a third place (2:19.37) in the 200 individual medley. Coughlan swam a winning time of 54.79 in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 free, Coughlan finished second (2:02.83) followed by Sheehan, third (2:03.99). Sheehan also took third (25.90) in the 50 free.
DelNero finished second (11:10.41) in the 1000 freestyle and she was third (5:32.44) in the 500. Gligor captured second (1:02.82) in the 100 butterfly. Dineva had a third place (1:03.69) in the 100 backstroke.
Amanda Burke (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) was third (2:18.39) in the 200 backstroke while
Sam Wahl (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) came in third (2:36.40) in the 200 breaststroke.
Next, Rowan travels to William Paterson University on Tuesday, Nov. 3 for a 6 p.m. conference meet.
