Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 5-3 over conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday.
 
Forward Rachel Galante (fr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Collingswood) led the Profs with two goals and three assists.  Midfielders Jacqui Rosati (fr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Paul VI) and Johanna James (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) and forward Sam Browne (sr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) each scored one time.  Backs Marisa Marini (sr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) and Abbie Tucker (so. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) chipped in one assist apiece. 
 
For the Red Hawks, forward Kaitlyn Struss (so. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) contributed with two goals and back Charisse Myers (sr. Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) had one.  Forward Maura Johnston (sr. Montville, NJ/Montville) registered an assist.
 
Rowan has an 11-5 record with a 4-1 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  Montclair State is 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.  Profs' goalie Carly DeMarco (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) made three saves.  Red Hawks' goalie Rebecca Brattole (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) turned away five shots.
 
Browne put Rowan on the scoreboard at the 47 second mark when she tipped in Galante's shot.  Myers tied the score less than three minutes later on a penalty corner by Johnston.  James connected with Galante (14:12) for a 2-1 advantage.  Galante hit the cage on a penalty corner (15:31) from Marini.  With 38 seconds left, Struss recorded an unassisted tally.
 
In the second stanza, Struss knotted the score at three (40:22) with a backhanded shot.  Rosati gave the Profs the lead at 65:24.  She tipped in a cross on the goal line from Tucker who redirected Galante's shot.  Galante added an insurance tally (66:53) with a shot on a breakaway.
 
Next, Rowan travels to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Oct. 28 for a 4:30 p.m. game.
