Box Score PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Rowan University men's basketball team defeated the University of Valley Forge, 89-57 on Saturday.
The Profs have a seven game win streak and they are 10-1 overall. Rowan had four players that scored in double figures. Forward
Mike Simpson (sr. Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Twp.) contributed with a season-high 21 points and six rebounds. Guard
Kris O'Connor (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) totaled 16 points, seven boards and seven assists. Forwards
Ike Robinson (jr. Trenton, NJ/Conwell-Egan Catholic (PA)) and
Daniel Waynick (sr. East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) each chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Patriots are 4-5 on the season. Guard Jerome Staley (fr. Upper Darby, PA) scored 12 points and guard Thorne McIntosh (fr. Martinsburg, WV) followed with 11 points and nine rebounds. Guard Joseph Taylor (fr. Camden, NJ) produced 10 points and guard Kevin Mack (sr. Philadelphia, PA) had eight. Guard Tony Hazzard (so. Lincoln, DE) registered seven points, five boards and three blocks.
In the first half, McIntosh had a tip-in (13:58) and Valley Forge was down by four points (10-6). The Profs followed with an 11-0 run to lead by 15 (21-6) at 11:14. O'Connor hit two three-pointers while Simpson drained one and Robinson had two foul shots. Simpson's three at 8:33 put Rowan ahead by 16 points (29-13). Josh Borrelli (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) ended the period with two points (0:26) at the line and the Profs led 45-27. O'Connor was the top scorer with 14 points in the period and Simpson tallied 11.
Forward
Skylar Moore (jr. Westville, NJ/Hempstead (NY)) scored two baskets (15:38, 15:23) in the second stanza for a 23-point advantage (58-35). Robinson had a jumper (12:02) and a foul shot (11:59) to lead 65-40. Hazzard made a layup (9:34) and the Patriots trailed 67-45. Rowan posted 14 straight points for a 36-point advantage (81-45) with 5:51 remaining. Six different players scored in the surge. Rowan also led by 36 two more times, 83-47 (5:25) after two free throws by center
Dan Brogan (jr. Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) and forward
TJ Booth's (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) jumper, 87-51 at the one minute mark. Brogan ended the game with seven rebounds.
