Rutgers-Camden Women's Basketball Tops Rowan, 74-62

CAMDEN, NJ – The Rutgers-Camden women's basketball team defeated Rowan University, 74-62 on Thursday night.

 
The Profs are now 13-5 overall and they are 9-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Scarlet Raptors are 8-11 with a 4-8 conference mark.
 
Rutgers-Camden guard/forward Kamari Talley (jr. Camden, NJ/Creative Arts) led all scorers with 28 points and she grabbed 14 rebounds. Center/forward Tanjae Lewis (sr. Magnolia, NJ/Sterling) registered 15 points and six boards. Guard Alex Gravinese (sr. Audubon, NJ/Audubon) chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds. Guard/forward Cara Racobaldo (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) and forward/center Michelle Obasi (fr. Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) tallied nine and eight points respectively. Racobaldo also had six assists.
 
For Rowan, guard Anyssa Sanchez (so. Stratford, NJ/Sterling) scored 15 points. Center Kate Matthews (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Jade Bonder (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) added 10 points.
 
Lewis started the game with a layup (19:23) then the Profs scored nine straight points for a 9-2 lead (17:35). Guard Bria Hill (sr. Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City tallied three points, while Matthews, Sanchez and Bonder each had two. Rowan led 17-11 (14:15) then Rutgers-Camden used an 18-2 run to take a 29-19 advantage with 8:32 to play in the first half. Gravinese registered nine points. Two made free throws by Obasi extended the lead to 39-26 (2:40). Forward Summer Crilley (fr. Galloway, NJ/Holy Spirit) knocked down a three-pointer (0:09), making the halftime score 41-31.
 
A Talley jumper put the Scarlet Raptors ahead 45-31 (18:21). The Profs trimmed the deficit to six points (48-42) at the 14:36 mark after an 11-3 spurt. Sanchez totaled seven points. Rutgers-Camden led 55-44 (12:33), but two free throws by guard Kaitlin Schullstrom (jr. Colts Neck, NJ/Colts Neck) (12:01) and a three-pointer by Bonder (9:21) cut the lead to six (55-49). The Scarlet Raiders registered the next six points for a 61-49 advantage with 6:57 left. Rowan responded with nine consecutive points, making it 61-58 (4:50). Hill's layup (3:27) made the score 63-60, but Rutgers-Camden poured in 11 straight points, including seven free throws to put the game away.
 
Rowan hosts New Jersey City University on Saturday, January 31 at 1 p.m.
