Box Score CAMDEN, NJ – The Rutgers-Camden men's basketball team held on for a 62-59 conference win over Rowan University on Thursday night.
Guard KJ Brown (sr. Sicklerville, NJ/Living Faith Christian Academy) led the way with 16 points. Guard Wyatt Polk (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) totaled 10 points and guard Marcus Taylor (so. Somerdale, NJ/Sterling) followed with eight. Guard Julian Martin (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and forward Abby Bah (fr. Haddonfield, NJ.Haddonfield Mem.) each added seven points. Bah also grabbed seven rebounds.
The Scarlet Raptors improve to 10-9 overall and 4-8 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs have a 12-7 record with a 6-6 conference mark. Guard
Kris O'Connor (jr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Paul VI) scored 16 points and had eight boards. Forward
TJ Booth (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) registered a season-high 10 points while forwards
Chris Gross (jr. Cranford, NJ/Roselle Catholic) and
Ike Robinson (jr. Trenton, NJ/Conwell-Egan Catholic (PA)) had eight and seven points respectively. Guard
Joey Montalvo (so. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington County Reg.) dished four assists.
With 7:23 left in the game, Rowan trailed 54-45. The Profs took the lead 57-54 at the 2:55 mark after scoring 12 straight points. O'Connor tallied five points while Booth, Gross and Robinson each had two and Montalvo sank a foul shot. The Scarlet Raptors answered with an 8-0 run to go ahead 62-57 with 28 seconds on the clock. Martin and Polk each scored four points. Montalvo made a layup with 19 seconds remaining. Rutgers-Camden missed a free throw and Rowan attempted two three-pointers in the final seconds.
The Profs started the game with a 14-7 run in 3:17. Gross scored three baskets, O'Connor had five points and Robinson hit a three-pointer. Center
Dan Brogan's (jr. Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) layup at 14:24 made the score 16-10. Rutgers-Camden followed with seven straight points to lead 17-16 with 12:01 remaining. Guard/forward John Tatem (jr. Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) produced six of the seven points. Brogan had a layup for a one-point advantage (18-17) at 11:12. The Scarlet Raptors built a 15-point lead (35-20) at the 3:13 mark with an 18-2 surge. Six different players scored in the run, which included two three-pointers by Brown. He had the last basket of the half at the 51 second mark and Rutgers-Camden was ahead 37-24.
