ResultsGLASSBORO, NJ –The College of New Jersey women's swimming & diving team defeated host Rowan University, 188-100 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) meet on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 3-3 overall and they are 3-0 in the conference. The Profs have a 7-3 record and a 1-2 NJAC mark. Rowan came in second (1:54.37) in the 200 medley relay with
Polina Dineva (fr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.),
Olivia Wojtowicz (jr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County),
Rikki Berk (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) and
Gigi Russo (sr. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.). The Profs were also second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.36) with Russo,
Julie Sheehan (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.),
Amanda Burke (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) and
Leanne Zaug (sr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park).
Berk was the victor in the 100 (1:02.87) and 200 (2:20.50) butterflies. Wojtowicz was the winner (2:19.28) in the 200 individual medley (IM) and Berk was third (2:20.67).
Sam Wahl (jr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) was the runner-up in the 100 (1:11.86) and 200 (2:33.12) breaststrokes.
In the 1000 freestyle,
Julia DelNero (jr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) took second (11:15.78) and
Nicole Vick (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) was third (11:25.81).
Ana Cubit (fr. Maple Glen, PA/Upper Dublin) had a pair of second places in the one (219.90) and three-meter (233.03) diving. Zaug and DelNero touched second (5:29.76) and third (5:30.74) in the 500 free. Wojtowicz came in third (1:11.92) in the 100 breaststroke.
Ashley El Naggar (jr. Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) had a third place (2:21.90) in the 200 backstroke and Zaug was third (2:02.90) in the 200 free. Dineva finished third (1:04.01) in the 100 backstroke.
TCNJ took first place (1:53.26) in the 200 medley relay with Katie Kilfeather (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.), Marta Lawler (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), Brenna Strollo (so. Long Branch, NJ/Biotechnology) and Brennah Ross (sr. Paoli, PA/Cyber Charter School). The Lions also captured the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.06) with Emily Rothstein (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.), Ali Huber (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield), Lauren Rothstein (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and Summer Thomas (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/Metuchen).
Thomas was the winner in the 200 (1:58.46), 500 (5:21.90) and 1000 (10:58.06) freestyles. The Lions took the top three spots in the 50 free with Ross (25.19), Emily Rothstein (25.66) and Huber (25.67). TCNJ did the same in the 100 freestyle. Lauren Rothstein captured first (55.03), Emily Rothstein, second (55.23) and Huber, third (56.25).
In the 100 backstroke, Strollo claimed first (1:00.37) and Kilfeather took second (1:02.05). Kilfeather was victorious in the 200 backstroke (2:16.31) and Jill Galindo (fr. Millstone Twp., NJ/Rutherford) was the runner-up (2:18.68). Lawler had a first place in the 100 (1:11.47) and 200 (2:33.01) breaststrokes and she was second (2:20.64) in the 200 IM. Lauren Rothstein had a second place (2:00.62) in the 200 freestyle. In the 200 butterfly, Debbie Meskin (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) came in second (2:21.47) and Cassidy Bergeron (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) followed third (2:24.66). Bergeron had a second place (1:03.62) in the 100 butterfly and Noelle DeLusant (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was third (1:04.63). Meskin was third (2:36.87) in the 200 breaststroke.
The Profs visit Ramapo College for the NJAC finale on Saturday, January 31 at 2 p.m.
