Box Score NEWARK, NJ – The Rowan University men's soccer team lost its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game at Rutgers-Newark, 3-0 on Saturday night.
 
Midfielder Parker Oris (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) scored the Profs' goal. Midfielder Vinny Ignatowicz (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) recorded the assist. Forward Raphael Araujo (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) hit the back of the net twice for the Scarlet Raiders. Forward Chigozie Atubi (fr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) tallied one goal and midfielder/forward Anthony DeRisi (so. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) had one assist.
 
Goalie Kevin Vasta (sr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) made two saves in the first half for Rowan. Goalie Graeham Gotrell (jr. Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) played the second half and recorded three stops. Rutgers-Newark keeper Matt Broomall (jr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) stopped one shot. The Profs have an overall record of 6-4 and they are 1-1 in the conference. The Scarlet Raiders have a mark of 9-2 and are 2-0 in the NJAC.
 
Araujo put Rutgers-Newark on the scoreboard just 51-seconds into the game. He hit the back of the net on a one-timer from the middle of the box off an assist from DeRisi. Araujo then converted a penalty kick (67:49) for a 2-0 lead. Atubi extended the Scarlet Raiders advantage, scoring on a shot inside the right post at the 75:17 mark. Oris made the score 3-1 with 11:31 to play in the second. He took a pass from Ignatowicz and scored when the ball deflected into the net off the right post.
 
Rowan hosts Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
