WOODBURY, NJ – Former Glassboro State College/Rowan University athlete Dino Hall was inducted into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday night. The 34
th annual banquet was held at the Adelphia Restaurant in Woodbury.
Hall played football for Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, from 1976-78. A running back, Hall was a two-time New Jersey State College Athletic Conference (NJSCAC) All-Conference first team selection and was named the 1978 NJSCAC Athlete of the Year. He was also the 1978 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Year and was an American Football Coaches Association and Associated Press All-American. Hall was a member of the 1978 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Region All-Star team.
During Hall's tenure, the Profs had a record of 19-11 and won the NJSCAC Championship in 1976 and 1977. Hall still holds the school record for most rushing yards in a game with 255.
Hall was signed by the Cleveland Browns in 1979 and competed in the National Football League for five years, primarily as a kick returner. At the time of his retirement in 1983, Hall held eight franchise records, including most kickoff return yards in a game (172), season (1,014) and career (3,185).
Hall was also a standout in baseball for the Profs from 1975-78. In his career, Glassboro State went 93-43 and won the 1978 NCAA Division III Championship. The team also captured the NJSCAC title in 1977 and 1978 and participated in a NCAA Regional Tournament three times, reaching the World Series twice. Hall was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1977 and still holds at least a share of six school records, including stolen bases in a season (46) and career (97) and stolen base percentage (.924).
Hall is a member of the Rowan-Glassboro State Athletic Hall of Fame. Hall was a part of the first class inducted in 1986.
