Messiah Women's Lacrosse Tops Rowan, 15-13

Box Score CLERMONT, FL – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team fell to Messiah College, 15-13 on Thursday afternoon. The game was played at the National Training Center.
 
Attack Lizzy Keeney (sr. Cockeysville, MD/Duhaney) scored eight goals and had two assists for Messiah. Midfielder/attack Carly Bajus (jr. Arnold, MD/Rockbridge Academy) added three goals and two assists. Attack Madi Brunk (jr. Wyncote, PA/Cheltenham) and midfielders Marybeth Bindel (jr. Glen Arm, MD/Mercy), Claire Stikeleather (so. Oakton, VA/Oakton) and Jenna Stover (fr. Cockeysville, MD/McDonough) each produced one goal.
 
Midfielder Rachel Hofbauer (fr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) led Rowan with four goals. Midfielder Brittany Bollendorf (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored three times. Attack Rachel Emerson (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and midfielder Kelly O'Brien (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) scored two goals apiece. Midfielders Jamie Blondina (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) and Cat Luick (so. Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) each tallied one goal. Blondina and O'Brien each had three assists.
 
Rowan has an overall record of 3-2 and Messiah has a mark of 3-4. The Profs had 25 shots and 18 ground balls, while the Falcons recorded 33 shots and collected 25 ground balls. Goalie Lindsay Barrie (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made nine saves for Rowan. Messiah goalie Sarah Dolan (so. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) stopped nine shots.
 
Keeney scored twice in the first 6:31 for a 2-0 Messiah lead. Emerson made the score 2-1 at the 14:39 mark. Keeney hit the back of the net with 13:52 on the clock, but Hofbauer then scored twice to tie the game at 18:41. The game was then knotted at four (22:09), five (26:43) and six (27:56).
 
Bollendorf gave Rowan its first lead with 28:02 to play in the second half off an assist from Emerson. The Falcons scored the next three goals to take a 9-7 advantage at the 42:01 mark. Keeney scored twice and Bajus once. Bollendorf cut the deficit to 9-8 (42:28), but Messiah tallied four unanswered goals to go ahead, 13-8 with 10:17 on the clock. Stover, Brunk, Bindel and Bajus each recorded one goal. O'Brien scored from Blondina (51:10) to make the score 13-9. Bajus (52:35) and Stikeleather (53:00) tallied back-to-back goals for a 15-9 lead. The Profs scored four straight in the last 6:09 for a 15-13 final score. O'Brien, Blondina, Bollendorf and Emerson scored one goal apiece.
 
Rowan will face Keene State College in Clermont, FL on Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m.
