FDU-Florham Softball Wins 4-1 Against Rowan

Box Score CLERMONT, FL – The Rowan University softball team lost to FDU-Florham, 4-1 on Tuesday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games. 

The heavy rain on Monday delayed the start of today's games at the National Training Center.  The Profs' second game versus Worcester State University was postponed. 

Rowan has a 7-4 record while FDU-Florham improves to 3-2 on the season.  The Devils' Sydney Worek (so. Bordentown, NJ/Florence Twp.) was the winning pitcher.  She scattered six hits and gave up one unearned run.  Right-hander Krysti Maronski (sr. Woodbury Heights, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology) had the loss.  In 2.2 innings, she (4-2) allowed six hits and four earned runs.

First baseman Wynne McCann (so. Boyertown, PA/Boyertown Area) went two for three with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.  Designated player Jaclyn Herrington (so. Huntington, NY/Huntington) contributed with one hit (two at bats) and one RBI.  Third baseman Kristie Crilley (sr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) produced two hits, one double, in three at bats.  Second baseman Nikki Caruso (so. Madison, NJ/Madison) added one hit and one run scored.  Catcher Sarah Lima (sr. Stanfordville, NY/Pine Plains) scored one run.

For the Profs, center fielder Shannon Costello (jr. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was one for two with one RBI.  Left fielder Jennifer Arcella (sr. Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) had a double and scored one run.  Second baseman Alysa Romero (jr. Newfield, NJ/Vineland) registered a double while shortstop Shilah Snead (so. Malaga, NJ/Delsea Reg.) recorded a triple. 

FDU-Florham got on the scoreboard with one run in the second inning.  Herrington singled home McCann.  The Devils led 4-0 after McCann posted a three-run homer to left field in the third.  Rowan's run came in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Arcella led off with a double and went to third on a passed ball.  She crossed the plate with a sacrifice fly by Costello.   

Rowan continues its spring trip on Wednesday, March 19 with games against Western New England University at 9 a.m. and Wesleyan University at 11 a.m.
