GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University men's swim team won its final home meet of the season, 164-89 over Ramapo College on Saturday.
The Profs are 10-1 overall and they have a New Jersey Athletic Conference mark of 3-1. The Roadrunners have a 7-2 record and they are 2-2 in the conference.
Larry Dow (sr. Alexandria, VA/T.C. Williams), Mike Simunek (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.), Pat Malone (sr. Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Jesse Novak (fr. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) won the 200 medley relay in 1:37.02. Troy Cervini (jr. Vineland, NJ/Vineland), Pat Myers (so. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett), Novak and Dow took first place in the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.94). Kyle DeVore (fr. Annapolis, MD/South River), Tyler Coe (so. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), Chris Cannizzaro (jr. Cedar Grove, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) and Cervini finished second (1:39.07) in the 200 medley relay.
Steven Buzby (fr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) took first place in the 1000 (10:02.54) and 500 (4:54.10) freestyles. Malone won the 200 freestyle (1:47.07) and 100 butterfly (52.39). He was third (2:03.89) in the 200 butterfly. Dow was first (53.53) in the 100 backstroke, while Simunek finished first in the 100 (1:00.12) and 200 (2:12.79) breaststrokes.
Bradley Updegraff (fr. Frederick, MD/Walkersville) was a first place finisher (2:02.90) in the 200 butterfly. Novak won the 50 (21.94) and 100 (48.35) freestyles. DeVore finished first (1:59.75) in the 200 backstroke and Connor Buck (so. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) took first (2:00.99) in the 200 individual medley. DeVore also finished third (55.23) in the 100 backstroke, while Buck finished third (10:19.91) in the 1000 freestyle.
Zac Wister (jr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) took second place (10:05.02) in the 1000 freestyle. Kyle Surette (so. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) finished second (1:49.64) in the 200 freestyle. Cannizzaro took second (2:03.57) in the 200 butterfly.
For Ramapo, Philip Sokoloff (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) finished second in the 100 (53.79) and 200 (1:59.85) backstrokes. RJ Carillo (fr. Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) took second in the 100 (1:02.38) and 200 (2:17.03) breaststrokes. Philip Mathys (fr. Littleton, CO/Littleton) was second (49.02) in the 100 freestyle and Peter Kellner (so. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) had a second (5:02.79) in the 500 freestyle. Kellner also finished third (1:49.80) in the 200 freestyle.
The 100 butterfly had Evan Graziano (fr. Washington Twp., NJ/Warren Hills Reg.) in second (55.93) and Kevin Guo (fr. Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) was second (2:06.38) in the 200 individual medley. Guo was a third place finisher (50.21) in the 100 freestyle.
