ResultsSALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University women's swim team won 109-96 at Salisbury University on Tuesday night.
It was the first dual meet of the season for both teams. All of the events were meter swims. The Profs took first place in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:46.50. The 400 freestyle relay was second in 4:23.94. The medley relay included
Polina Dineva (fr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.),
Victoria Grimsgaard (jr. Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth Reg.),
Olivia Wojtowicz (jr. Centreville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and
Julie Sheehan (so. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.).
Gigi Russo (sr. Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Reg.),
Leanne Zaug (sr. Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park),
Nicole Vick (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and
Amanda Burke (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) were on the freestyle relay.
Rowan won six of the nine individual events.
Julia DelNero (jr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) was the winner in the 800 (9:49.67) and 400 (4:50.11) freestyles. Russo swam 28.76 in the 50 free for first place. She also finished second (1:03.14) in the 100 freestyle. Wojtowicz took first in the 200 individual medley (2:36.04) and 200 breaststroke (2:52.73). Vick captured first place (2:41.62) in the 200 backstroke.
Burke had a second place (10:36.38) in the 800 freestyle and she was third (3:06.75) in the 200 breaststroke. Dineva finished second (5:06.83) in the 400 freestyle. Grimsgaard came in second (2:18.04) in the 200 freestyle followed by Vick, third (2:22.84). Sheehan finished second (29.23) in the 50 free and third (1:03.69) in the 100 freestyle. In the 200 butterfly, Dineva and DelNero were third (2:45.90) and fourth (2:47.98) respectively.
Next week, Rowan hosts Cabrini College on Thursday, October 30 at 6 p.m.
