SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University men's swim team defeated Salisbury University, 157-48 on Tuesday night.
All events were meter swims and it was the first dual meet of the season for both squads. Rowan won the 400 medley (4:04.66) and 400 freestyle (3:38.97) relays. The medley relay team included
Eric Emerson (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.),
Tyler Coe (jr. North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.),
Nick Marte (fr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and
Jesse Novak (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan). Coe,
John Tepper (fr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Atlantic County Institute of Technology),
John Shellem (fr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Novak swam on the freestyle relay.
The Profs won all nine individual events.
Colin Fisher (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had a first place (9.07.10) in the 800 freestyle.
Connor Buck (jr. Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:04.12 and finished second (2:20.88) in the 200 butterfly. Shellem took the 50 freestyle (24.61) and
Brian Suatengco (fr. Toms River, NJ/Donovan Catholic) came in first (2:15.63) in the 200 individual medley (IM).
The 200 butterfly had
Brad Updegraff (so. Frederick, MD/Walkersville) earn the win in a time of 2:15.19. Novak captured the 100 freestyle (52.35) and
Luke Wister (so. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) won the 200 backstroke (2:16.68). The final two winners were
Steven Buzby (so. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) in the 400 freestyle (4:23.76) and
Mike Simunek (so. Cherry NJ/Cherry Hill E.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.81). Simunek also had a second place (2:15.66) in the 200 IM.
Tepper and
Zac Wister (sr. Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) finished second (9:13.24) and third (9:18.75) respectively in the 800 freestyle.
Kyle Surette (jr. Martinsville, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) swam the 200 freestyle to a second place finish (2:05.99).
Chris Boyle (so. Springfield, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) had a second place (4:27.74) in the 400 freestyle. The 200 breaststroke had
Paul Long (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) finish second (2:37.30) and
Pat Myers (jr. Kennett Square, PA/Kennett), third (2:39.30). Meyers had a third place in the 100 free (55.89).
Next, Rowan hosts Cabrini College on Thursday, October 30 at 6 p.m.
